This diabetes management device can be weared either on your wrist or ankle as you sleep, sounds an alarm when it detects one of the signs of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). This Sleep Sentry device will beep repeatedly if hypoglycemia causes your skin temperature to drop or your skin to perspire.
Science
Skin temperature changes and perspiration are two common events associated with hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) commonly referred to as an insulin reaction. Patients with diabetes who take insulin and have a history of past episodes of severe hypoglycemia should be considered candidates for Sleep Sentry.
Important Medical Note
Sleep Sentry does not detect hypoglycemia, but monitors the two symptoms that are commonly associated with the presence of hypoglycemia; perspiration and a drop in skin temperature (cold sweat). The presence of either of these physical signs triggers an audible alarm.
